Introduction
My name is (Name). I am seventeen years old. At the age of eleven years, I migrated to the United States from Nigeria with my mom and a small sister. I am currently in 12th grade and plan to go to graduate school after college to become a Physician Assistant (PA). I am the first child of divorced parents and have watched my single mom work multiple jobs while furthering her education to make ends meet.
As an immigrant, I have learned to assimilate to the American culture and academic system and have tackled these challenges head-on. It has not been easy, as I have had to endure a lot of discrimination throughout my high school career. For instance, I once lost a laptop after mysteriously being stolen in my cabinet while I was out for lunch. Such challenges taught me to be strong and resilient in the face of all adversities.
One of my unique opportunities was joining multiple after-school programs in middle school in North Carolina and high school in New Jersey. These programs enabled me to gain acceptance into a stem program and charter school, where I continued to excel. I became one of the best students there and broke the set limits. Indeed, the sky is the only limit for us all.
