Introduction: Problem Identification
Kraft foods is an American grocery manufacturing, and it is headquartered is in Chicago. The product manager, Geoff Herzog, is a coffee developer and have been encouraging to launch single-serve coffee pod machine in Canada (Ivey, 2020). The primary issue being identified in the case is the indecisiveness of the manager related to the strategic marketing issue. Kraft coffee pod is indeed facing marketing issue as the most complicated issue. It has been denoted that the company have been investing significant resources in marketing and advertising. The present manager is not able to decide the launch of coffee pods in Canada and other regions. Other issues include the bargaining power of a supplier is low because of the competitor’s presence in the market that provides little or no opportunity to the company. Also, the intensely competitive nature of the market does not allow the company to obtain a high ratio of profits from the services and products. At the same time, there has been a strong and intense competitive rivalry that is a significant barrier in the decision-making process. The market of Canada is surrounded by giant competitors of coffee shops such as Tim Hortons, Star bucks and others. There will be a low chance to attract the customers, and this reason is making the manager to have struggled in decision making.
Key Facts Contributing to the Problem
Several vital facts contribute to significant problems and challenges and arise the fact that the manager, Herzog, is not in the pace of making an active decision concerning the pricing and taste preference in the new market. It is complex to set and follow new marketing conditions for other regions.
Harrison & John (2013) depicts another essential fact is evaluating the preferences and taste of new customers when introducing a new product in the market. These are some essential facts due to which Herzog is not making a quick decision.
