Each of the three on-site managers possesses different leadership styles, with Heather Atwood portraying democratic leadership style, which is the most effective for the bank. Each of them has to enhance their leadership skills while Vanessa needs to come up with a plan on how to perform better in the next review period.
The attitudes of the leaders about Vanessa bring out their leadership philosophy. As informed by Northouse (2018), in reference to Theory X and Theory Y, the assumptions about human behavior by leaders can exhibit their leadership philosophy. In this regard, the different managers portrayed different philosophies of leadership. It is evident that Marion Woods perceives the average employee as one who does not like work and thus they have to be controlled. This is consistent with the assumptions described in Theory X. It is deducible that her leadership philosophy is autocratic. Bruce Dexter follows procedures and is hardly concerned with the affairs of the employees. This is in line with the laissez-faire leadership style where little or no help is offered to employees. As for Heather, despite being with the company for less than a year, she is very helpful to Vanessa. It is evident that she is a democratic leader. As seen, the attitudes of the leaders about Vanessa bring out their leadership styles.
