Domino focused a lot of its effort on quick pizza delivery while neglecting to improve the Pizza's overall quality. The company assumed that a seamless ordering and delivery process was sufficient. However, they didn't keep track of changing consumer demands, which meant they lost their market share to their competitors. The new product team singled out three specific components: crusts, sauces, and cheese that were integral in creating a tastier pizza. Their analysis was extensively allowing the team to experiment with different combinations (Crawford & Benedetto, 2011). This attribute analysis ensured the new product team could choose an option that offered consumers the best taste.
This analysis ensured the company gave more focus on improving the taste of Pizza. Internally, the company recognized the significance of taste in beating off competitors. The testing gave the team more substantial evidence that their new product would help boost the brand and attract new consumers. This case study shows that attribute analysis is crucial in enhancing product features. The approach allows product teams to pick out the right mix of components to create a superior brand (Crawford & Benedetto, 2011). Evidence found from the testing helps eliminate any flaws in the product.
First is the conjoint analysis, where the product team could identify the ranking of the preferred product attributes. It would help them find out the top-ranked attributes that would offer the product more significant market potential. The product team would then concentrate on the further development of these attributes. Another approach could be market research, which is focused on the product concepts that would yield the most sales for the brand (Crawford & Benedetto, 2011). The sales predictions are based on the purchase intention the product team would find out through extensive consumer testing.
New product process
Domino followed the new product process going through the various critical stages before offering its improved Pizza to the market. Creating a new product came from external sources that are customers who mentioned that their Pizza lacked taste. It then conducted a screening of the idea by analyzing specific attributes to pick out the right combinations for a better pizza. Domino developed the Pizza and conducted further tests in the Franchises to check that it tasted better. A promotional campaign was done to launch the product (Cooper, 2019). This is consistent with its previous strategy of conducting extensive feasibility studies before developing and launching a new market product.
Stage-gate process
Domino implemented the Stage gate process by following all the critical stages to collect vital information to develop a better product. The product team engages in various activities to assess the merits of the product. For example, the extensive testing of Pizza validated this new product.
