The ability to effectively manage a classroom and meet the behavior and instructional needs of students both with and without disabilities is complex. Use this part of your field experience to work hands-on with students.
Allocate at least 5 hours in the field to support this assignment.
Continue to observe and collaborate with your mentor teacher on the elements that help create a positive, safe, and productive learning environment outlined in Clinical Field Experience A. With the assistance of your mentor teacher, select a small group or whole group activity you could lead.
Use any remaining field experience hours to provide support or assistance to the class as directed by your mentor.
In 500-750 words, write a summary about your experiences leading the whole or small group of students through an activity. The following information should be addressed in your summary:
The transitions used to get students ready to begin the activity.
The learning objective for the activity.
How you assessed student learning for the objective.
Strategies you used to engage students in the lesson.
Verbal and nonverbal cues you used to redirect students and keep them engaged.
Any collaboration you had with paraprofessionals and volunteers.
What went well during the activity?
What you would change?
In addition, discuss whether or not this field experience activity affirmed your choice of grade level and setting that you may want to teach in the future and support this with examples from the experience that led you to make this conclusion. Explain how you will use your findings in your future professional practice.

Class Activity Description
A prime Numbers ‘Buzz’ Game
I created a ‘Prime Numbers game’ that would involve all students to stand up and at least identify one prime number before they sat down. The number series was numbers between 20-50.
At the start of the activity, I recapped the concept of prime numbers which we had covered in the previous lesson. I also encouraged all the students to write down at least 5 prime numbers between 1-20 and stand up and walk to the front and form a circle. I explained the rules of the game.
Each student would take time "counting around the circle" or "round-robin counting” but for prime numbers. It is a cooperative counting activity where each person takes turns saying the next number in sequence, creating a collaborative effort to count through a series of numbers.
Each student would take turn counting from 20 -50 but for each student who gets to a prime number instead of saying the number out loud, he/she will say ‘Buzz’ and sit down. This will continue iteratively till all students have identified a prime number and have returned to their desks. If we get to 50 before all students are seated, the next student starts at number 20.
For example: 1, Buzz, Buzz, 4, Buzz, 6, Buzz, 8, 9,10, Buzz…
The transitions used to get students ready to begin the activity.
Each student had to write down at least 5 prime numbers between 1-20 in their exercise books. After they were done, they would stand and move to the front to form a circle.
The learning objective for the activity.
To reinforce the concept of prime numbers and improve number recognition skills through an engaging game. How you assessed student learning for the objective.
The nature of the game was to assess their understanding of prime numbers and how they can identify them easily. Throughout the game, each student was challenged to think of the next prime number and identify it when it was their turn before they sat down.
Strategies you used to engage students in the lesson.
Each student ...
