Patient outcomes can be improved by developing well-informed diagnoses. Timely diagnosis improves success of treatment and even reduces costs by eliminating many tests (Montag, 2017). Improving diagnostic procedures also reduces medical errors that account for many patient deaths. Another way to improve patient outcomes is creating conducive environment for clinicians. Healthcare organizations should strive to create environments where healthcare professionals have greater autonomy, control of their clinical work, and better relationships with other professionals (Montag, 2017). Finally, continuity and follow-up care should be practiced after discharge.
The reduction of healthcare costs can occur through decrease in the number of medical tests done. Every year, about 42 percent of patients receive one of the 26 tests often recognized not to have any benefit to patients (Harvard, 2009). Eliminating such tests would lower costs.
