C's Post:
In chapter nine of late adulthood, there are quick breakdowns of analyzing Erikson's theory of ego integrity and despair. So, based on the physical aspect, the textbook states that exercise is the main theory of adulthood health wise. This theory is based on staying physically active to live a well balanced healthy lifestyle. The textbook states staying Active: Many older adults want to remain active and work toward replacing opportunities lost with new ones. Those who prefer to keep themselves busy demonstrate the Activity Theory. (Lally & Valentine-French, 2019). Which continues to say how overall satisfaction is met with good standards that appease your physique and overall health.
The cognitive aspect of Erikson's theory would be based on community. The textbook talks about how volunteering is an aide in maintaining cognitive function as you grow and explore the world. You are constantly meeting many types of people, this keeps your mind fresh and busy while enhancing prior and new knowledge. The example given is Older adults who volunteer experience more social contact, which has been linked to higher rates of life satisfaction, and lower rates of depression and anxiety (Pilkington, Windsor, & Crisp, 2012). Constant activity with communication helps both your physical and mental health individually and interpersonally.
The last aspect of this theory would be how it influences social-economically. The example given is maintaining meaningful relationships, which we are presented by grandparents and grandchildren. It started off by telling us by eighteen, grandchildren are living in grandparent's households being raised by them and continues to tell us that grandparent parenting for a second time is twice as hard due to age and health conditions but oftentimes will do it due to how their grandchildren's parents turn out. A survey by AARP (Goyer, 2010) found that grandparents were raising their grandchildren because the parents had problems with drugs and alcohol, had a mental illness, were incarcerated, had divorced, had a chronic illness, were homeless, had neglected or abused the child, were deployed in the military, or had died. (Lally & Valentine-French, 2019).
I enjoyed this last chapter because I can relate a lot sometimes to how often my grandparents raised me while my mom was trying to build a life for her beautiful kids in America. Not everyone's life is perfect, not everyone is born in the US. It is a privilege to not only study in the United States but to live here and interact with all types of people. To Contribute back to society and enjoy life to the fullest. So in conclusion psychically the goal of Erikson's theory is stay active and healthy, cognitively stay communicative and surrounded and socially economically dont let age get the best of you, let your family annoy you even if your eighty five and not having it, grand kids don't come often.

Discussion 6.3 Response
Hello C. Your post regarding late adulthood is great. As you have highlighted, most prefer to be more active and maintain a well-balanced lifestyle (Lally & Valentine-French, 2019). One reason is that this group usually prefers to spend most of their end time having optimum performance. Moreover, these individuals usually analyze their lives and either have integrity, which means feeling satisfied with the life well-lived, or have despair, where they regret the missed opportunities or the choices they made.
On the other hand, I support your perspective that
