Mediated interaction is an essential part of the digital world. It refers to communication that is conducted through the use of information communication technology. Modern technology is mainly centered on computer; thus, the term computer-mediated type of communication is highly used. However, mediated communication does not have to be computerized because it can also be achieved through writing. Mass media influences modern culture directly. It affects people’s actions, values, and thoughts. Therefore, society cannot be detached from mass media. The mediated texts vary from magazines, newspapers, internets sites, literary works, journal articles, movies and songs among others. The texts mainly utilize varied theoretical perspectives such as feminist, Marxist, pragmatic and sociological perspectives. The goal of this research paper is to give a critical analysis of a mass-mediated journal article called International Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences Invention which utilizes the sociological perspective. The research focuses on how different forms of social media impact on individuals and the society as a whole. The role of the mass media is considered because it influences people’s culture and beliefs especially in the United States of America.
The International Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences Invention is an article that focuses on the impacts of social media on society. The contemporary media has experienced the transition from traditional to modern communities (Jackson, Nielsen, & Hsu, 2011). The research findings in dictate that the mass media forms a social construct. It addresses issues like social class, gender, citizenship, cultural diversity, and democracy (Bhat, Mehraj, & Mehraj, 2014 ). The mass-mediated texts are keen in presenting daily experiences in a transparent manner in all forms of social settings. It is interesting how social norms and identities are mediated in numerous forms of mass communication due to media saturation. Politically, mass mediated texts promote democracy because citizens of a country trust the media to be powerful guardians of efficient political conduct. Moreover, the media is keen on criticizing deeds of the government, thus keeping politics in control. The ability of mediated texts to reach masses of people makes it an efficient communication medium. Socially, people get a chance to air their views on mass media. As a result, the society influences decision making. Indispensably, media plays a role in accounting for achievements of the government. The society controls mass media. Similarly, mass media is controlled by the society. People’s behaviors are shaped by the content existent on the mass media (Jackson, Nielsen, & Hsu, 2011). The media is an informative part of human understanding.
