Failing to See: How Ethnicity Shapes Our Values And Worldview

Essay Instructions:

Written weekly reflections to the assigned readings (1 page, double- spaced and typed) The materials selected for required readings may be new for you and quite challenging. They were chosen to stimulate your thinking. Each week choose one of the readings that has an asterisk (*) and pick out an idea/quote/concept/sentence/argument that stands out for you and explain why it was interesting for you. You can put your reflection into a question (but this is not necessary) that can be presented to the class to provoke discussion. For example, What do you think about ______? I found it interesting or wrong or important…. because_______.
I am looking to see how engaged you were with the reading. So do NOT just pick a point or sentence and take it out of context. In your reflection you must
Demonstrate that you understood the main point of the reading
Show how the point you chose to discuss is connected to the reading as a whole.
Also, you demonstrate your engagement when your thinking goes above and beyond what the author is saying or when you connect what the author is saying to your own life or teaching experience. Your level of engagement will be assessed by the reasons you give for why the point/idea/sentence etc… was interesting to you.
There are 3 articles and you just need to choose one of them to write the journal.

That because one’s physical characteristics can ...
