When taking over as a head coach for 5th grade track and field, there are a different set of values that a coach must embody in contrast when coaching for high school or college track and field. In this grade, the students are mostly aged 10 to 11 years old and are still developing physically. For this grade, my coaching philosophy would be centered on education and personal development instead of physical improvement. As a coach, I want to emphasize values more than winning, which is often a theme in physical education classes, especially those that involve various forms of competition.
