Among the diverse approaches to leadership, transformational leadership has gained relatively high attention from organizational from corporates, institutions, and academia. Healthcare is one of the realms that health care administrators and unit managers have applied transformational leadership styles. The contemporary world is undergoing rapid changes, and in light of this, both individuals and organizations must adapt appropriately to remain relevant and to enjoy long term success in their ventures. One way of solving the current challenges is to adopt a responsive and effective leadership approach like transformational leadership.
The contemporary challenges that feature in healthcare can only be solved if we adopt an effective leadership approach like transformational leadership, which is geared towards resolving such problems. Transformational leadership is a refreshed approach to leadership, and it focuses on how leaders stimulate valuable and positive change among their followers. Transformational leadership is a relatively new approach to leadership that focuses on how leaders can create valuable and positive change in their followers.
James MacGregor Burns, who is known for the theory of this leadership style, defined transformational leadership as a process, which leaders and their followers assist each other in a bid to advance to a higher level of morale and motivation (Rao, 2014). Thus, transformational leadership revolves around the organizational processes that are aimed at developing people, who, in turn, will carry out the organizational development through the accomplishment of set goals and objectives.
