Psychoanalysis approach
This approach seeks to understand the problems, feelings, behavioural and changes in their manner of thinking of the patient, with an intention of discovering their unconscious meanings and motivations. It is achieved by a close working relationship the between therapist and patient where the patients is made to appreciate themselves by establishing a close link between the past and their present. It is commonly used to heal the unconscious psychological and biological processes in the brain and promoting the development of higher-level capacities, which include ability to recognize and reflect upon the happening in one’s own mind and the minds of others.
The Humanistic approach
It is an approach that emphasizes on the ability of individuals to make rational choices and develop to their maximum potential. Concern and respect for others are also important themes. Therapists have more interactive and equal relationship with their clients enabling them to understand the origin of the problem, explore ways of addressing that problem and to put the planned solutions to the problem into effect. It therefore gives the patient power and adequate control over their life.
