Where does interactivity occur/live? Is it an inherent property of technology? Is it a property of the user's mind or perception? Is it an emergent property of the user-technology system? Draw upon the readings to support any of these positions (or any alternative opinion you may have).
Interactivity involves everything that people do and not just with or on their computers. Experiences such as playing games and engaging in hobbies are more interactive than using computers yet they have nothing to do with technology. This implies that interactivity is not an inherent property of technologies. According to Bucy (2004), the notion that interactive is an inherent property of technologies arises from narrow definitions that only emphasize on things that appear on interactive media such as the web and computers. In contrast, technologies only become interactive after careful development that allows users to initiate the interaction process.
However, interactive is both an emergent property of the user-technology system and the property of the users’ perception.
