The essence of any technological innovation introduced in a workplace is always aimed at increasing and improving efficiency within the workplace environment. The final goal is to increase the productivity of the organization. Such is the case with telecommuting. Telecommuting is an arrangement that allows employees to work from their homes or locations near their homes. In MedEx's circumstance, telecommuting is a valuable option because it will eliminate some of the problems that employees experience, such as traffic and daily parking fees. MedEx will also be able to retain the majority of its employees because telecommuting is an efficient retention and recruiting practice that attracts employees who desire to work from their homes (Allen et al., 2015, p. 51). The company will also experience increased productivity due to employees' satisfaction and a reduction in overhead costs related to office space and supplies. They will be happier since they can now balance between their work and their personal life back home. It saves time for these employees, hence providing more time to focus on the company's needs and tasks.

The traditional workplace setting has numerous distractions that relate to movements and unnecessary communication. Telecommuting eliminates such distractions and allows employees to focus on their work.
