Part I: Career Research
Human resources specialists perform various activities in the HR field, including recruitment, screening, and interviewing applicants. They also place individuals within organizations (O*NET, 2021). Human resources (human capital) are an intangible asset where employee’s knowledge, skills and their motivation is essential to the growth of the organization and competitiveness. Working in the HR profession is appealing as it allows me to focus on job training others to meet organizations’ needs, and there is huge growth potential. Working in HR allows one to gain transferable skills.
 Among the most common interests in HR are enterprising and conventional, where being an enterprising occupation indicates leading people and starting new projects. HR practitioners follow set procedures and routines (O*NET, 2021). HR practitioners require HR skills, communication skills, critical thinking skills while also making complex decisions and being service-oriented (O*NET, 2021). The practitioners interact with individuals from different departments and need to understand information from diverse sources and solve problems. Similarly, abilities are linked to oral and written comprehension, expression, speech recognition, clarity, and good reasoning abilities (O*NET, 2021). Working as an HR specialist, including the HR manager, requires a bachelor’s degree and experience in the field.
I am not surprised by my findings about the HR practices where the managers are expected to design and implement HR strategies taking into account the values and needs of the company. Communication skills essential in HR and this is not merely having good social skills but knowing how to communicate and express what one wants in a structured way. There are various policies and procedures of the different areas of Human Resources where there is a need to comply with HR regulations and policies.
The findings further confirm that I am well suited to work in the profession where training and facilitating the acquisition of top talent is an essential component of HR. Training helps to acquire related to HR positions and facilitates professional development (Ulrich, 2016). Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving is beneficial in HR and this is associated with higher productivity. Every HR professional needs to have good negotiation abilities and it is common to negotiate with the employees, including on compensation and working conditions. 
The information reinforces my choice of the HR profession, and I need more experience to gain more skills and competencies. Both soft and hard skills are required in the HR profession. Soft skills are associated with emotional intelligence and personality, which allow an individual to adapt more easily to the work environment, organizational culture, and dynamics.
