* Introduction
The culture of an organization is closely intertwined with its values. This means that one has a direct effect on the other. The culture of an organization refers to the norms and closely held beliefs of an organization by the employees and the entire fraternity. It is the culture of an organization that informs and guides the behavior of the people. The values on the other hand are those aspects which the organization considers supreme and as the guiding point of the activities of the organization. Organizational values largely define the culture of each organization (Daft, 2010)
* Nursing Context
From a nursing context, the values of a health institution will large determine the organizational culture. The culture may either seek to promote the intended outcomes or destroy. Usually, health institutions work closely with patients with the main aim being to ensure that the state of health of patients is restored. The values that a hospital, for instance, holds true will determine whether this goal is achieved or not. The nursing fraternity has in some cases been accused of failing to establish a proper rapport with patients. They have even in some instances accused of neglecting and mistreating patients. This means that most patients either end up not getting proper medical care and some even have their state of health deteriorate.
