Introduction
Mental health disorders are an intriguing area of study within the discipline of psychology that I would like to investigate further, with a special emphasis on anxiety disorders. I wanted a well-rounded understanding of this topic, so I sought information from mainstream sources and scholarly journals that experts had evaluated. To begin, over the course of my in-depth research on various news websites and social media channels, I came across an article that discussed the growing frequency of depression and anxiety disorders among young adults as a result of a variety of societal causes. So, the article was selected to be compared to the peer-reviewed scholarly article in a well-known journal explaining anxiety disorders in children and young adults.
The article published in Forbes magazine titled ‘Depression And Anxiety Double In Youth Compared To Pre-Pandemic’ briefly discussed the background of the topic and continued by quoting some experts and research studies stating the contributing factors of anxiety (Haseltine, 2021).
