Why Being an International Chinese Student is Important to Me.
I am one of the millions of Chinese students studying in higher education institutions outside China. Being an international student takes courage to leave your country and family behind and venture into the unknown to study. It is challenging, but I am proud to have the chance to study abroad because I am an ambassador of Chinese culture to the rest of the world. Secondly, I have learned more about other cultures that I can apply back home to improve our world. Thirdly, I am part of the army that fights the wrong stereotypes and misinformation about China and its people worldwide.
First, I consider myself an ambassador of Chinese culture to the rest of the world. International students abridge different cultures and show more than the media says about other people, nations, and or countries. It is important for me to educate people that we do not come from a repressive regime or are ruled by an iron fist. Still, we enjoy civil liberties like many other democratic countries worldwide. I also enjoy educating other people about my country's rich history that has endured for centuries. It is important for me to challenge other people from different cultures to acknowledge the difference between different cultures. Rather than judge other cultures by viewing them through the lens of their own culture, I welcome them to embrace diversity.
Secondly, as an international student, I also learn about other cultures and cherry-pick some good things to take them back to China. As noted above, I abridge different cultures, and there is a lot to learn from other culture...
