* Traditionally, the term “woke” was used to indicate that individuals are aware and attentive to their environment.
* Recently, the term has been used to judge individuals who are ‘un-woke’, further referring to them not being proud of who they are (Kanai 27).
* Coppola (30) notes that Woke culture is not about being kind, equal, or fair, unlike what most people assume.
* Wokeism on various social platforms is now being used as a weapon to destroy the lives of individuals regardless of gender, age, or even Race (Coppola 30).
* In a society where woke culture is embraced, adults teach their children that they are innately guilty of oppression because of the colour of their skin.
1st Argument – Creating a Liberal District Attorney (DA) due to Wokeism
* Mirzaei (10) notes that the idea that wokeism is a liberal District Attorney (DA) is ridiculous.
* District attorney, Alvin Bragg, implemented various ridiculous and dangerous policies.
* He suggested that the strategy to use in a city where violent offences have increased is to opt not to fight at all.
* According to the DA, there is no need to prosecute cases of individuals that have resisted arrest.
* The DA also opted to downgrade various forms of felonies, including armed robbery (Geran Pilon 185).
* Consequently, A liberal DA can undermine the law by choosing not to adhere to it; as a response to showing various injustices.
2nd Argument – Stating Wokeism is about Race
* Viewing wokeism using a race lens is ridiculous – especially as the only measure of who is a victim of a given act.
* As a result, people have committed various crimes because of the colour of their skin.
* When committing crimes, individuals do not want to face the law because they believe that the colour of their skin makes them victims – Poor White and Asian people are left without anyone to defend them.
* Adults are teaching children to assume that the police will definitely attack them and wrongly arrest them because of the colour of their skin.
Conclusion
* The meaning of the term “woke” has changed over time.
* Traditionally - from aiming to ensure that individuals are more attentive to things that occur around them to
* Currently - being condemned for not being woke enough.
* Wokeism encourages ridiculous ideologies like teaching children that they are victims of racial discrimination because of the colour of their skin.
* Adults are teaching children to assume that the police will definitely attack them and wrongly arrest them because of the colour of their skin.
* A liberal DA is even downgrading various crimes to fight crime.
* Encouraging wokeism has dire effects on society because the original meaning of woke has changed.
