Essay 1: Reason for Selecting Preferred Track
I chose finance as my preferred track. This decision is based on several factors, such as experience and career prospects. Concerning my experience, I have worked as a business consulting intern at Pricewaterhouse Coopers. During this period, I worked on finance-related tasks, such as collecting, organizing, and analyzing firms’ financial systems, macroeconomic information, and industry data. I was also involved in examining the development status of a financial institution, especially the transformation of cases that included industry giants, by comparing their points with target companies. This engagement gave me the idea that majoring in finance is the perfect career path since it will open doors to various finance-related opportunities. Specifically, pursuing finance will equip me with fundamental business skills vital in pursuing a career in public, private, and non-profit organizations. Additionally, I believe finance will help me as a profession that guides corporations, government agencies, and individuals regarding their financial struggles and uncertainties, hence creating value out of their current finances.
Essay 2: My Immediate Career Goals After Completing The MQM
After completing the MQM: Business Analytical Program, my immediate career goal will be to become a senior financial analyst. My decision to pursue this career path is influenced by the understanding that I will have the necessary skills to be a financial analyst. Specifically, the skills needed for a financial analyst include critical thinking, presentation, analytical, financial modeling, and a clear understanding of financial regulations and economics (Leins, 2018). The MQM programs promise to instill these skills in us. Therefore, I will be better positioned to be a financial analyst because I possess all the necessary skills and abilities. Secondly, my experience as an intern working as an analyst assistant in the investment banking department at China Securities C. LTD has shaped my desire to be a financial analyst. During this period, I analyzed and monitored the performance of multiple portfolios, including stocks, bonds, and other financial derivatives. I used quantitative and qualitative analysis to evaluate investment opportunities and offer clients appropriate investment recommendations. This experience shaped my career path since I am now competent in creating financial models and projections, reviewing and analyzing financial reports, and ensuring companies comply with state and federal financial reporting laws and regulations.
