Application for Nursing School Admission
Nursing is not a career but a calling. Writing this letter to the Prelicensure Admissions Committee to apply for an opportunity to study nursing at Western Governors University (WGU) is a step to make my dream come true. From a CNA course in high school to serving as an active duty soldier, I believe that my life and professional experiences have shaped my path towards the pursuit of nursing. As I embark on the WGU B.S. Nursing Prelicensure program, I believe I have acquired invaluable lessons and skills throughout my journey, which have prepared me to deliver and support healthcare in my community.
My journey began with a CNA course during the summer of 2018, where I gained fundamental knowledge about patient care. Through my military service, I have developed the ability to adapt to challenging situations and think critically to provide the best possible care for those in need.
My educational background encompasses a diverse range of disciplines, including nursing and finance. Although I temporarily shifted my focus to finance, I never lost sight of my passion for nursing. The challenges I faced during my nursing major at Georgia State University did not deter my determination. Instead, I recognized that these obstacles were opportunities for growth and self-reflection. With my finance degree in hand, I now possess a well-rounded knowledge base that combines financial acumen with a deep understanding of healthcare systems, positioning me to contribute effectively to the nursing profession.
Community involvement has played a significant role in shaping my understanding of healthcare needs. Growing up in New Orleans and later relocating to Atlanta, I witnessed the dis...
