Personal Statement
I most strongly identify the value of compassion. In optometric jobs, embracing compassion in clinical practice will enhance the delivery of patient desires. I anticipate interacting with a diverse clientele with varying demands. When consumers are engaged in sympathetic dialogues, they are more likely to divulge information. The choice of words and verbal and nonverbal cues used during client conversations demonstrates compassion. To preserve the dignity of my customers, I must empathize with their social, psychological, and emotional requirements. When assessing eye abnormalities and injuries, I am compassionate and offer clients the opportunity to ask questions about the condition and potential therapies.
The core value was challenged when I volunteered for a community development project. Habitat for Homes launched a station in my locality, and I was excited to volunteer and interact with potential beneficiaries of the housing plans. I was determined to help needy communities, and on one occasion, I interacted with an older adult who complained about vision challenges. I empathized with the life-limiting challenge and recommended a medical center that could assist him.
