Introduction
Delirium entails a disturbance of the consciousness with inattention that is in many occasions accompanied by changes in the cognitive disturbances developing over short periods of time. Delirium is a common impediment that affects older people in hospitals. This complication may present changes in a person’s cognition and is common after the repair of fractures in the hip through surgeries.
The solution for preventing this problem requires the modification of a system of care that comprises of an educative approach that target the optimization of hydration through nutrition, the increase of the orientation place and time, reduction of environmental threats, the reduction of the environmental threats and the improvement of communicational practices(Detroyer, Clement, Baeten, Pennemans, Decruyenaere, Vandenberghe, & ... Milisen, 2014). It is also significant that patients are supported and encouraged and approaches of managing pain and infections also incorporated. This paper seeks to develop a method used in the implementation of a proposed solution in addressing this situation.
Plan for Implementing the Proposed Solution
The implementation of the proposed solution incorporates approaches geared towards sustaining, embedding, and introducing appropriate treatment intervention of delirium in the ICU. The first significant step towards reducing this illness lies in the prevention, early detection of this treatment and treatment. This plan envisages the mobilization of staff action groups that will create awareness and deliver trainings to other ward staff members and also recruiting volunteers (Friedman, Jing, Berkenstadt,& Katznelson,2008). The staff should and will comprise of various health personnel including the ICU ward managers, the matrons and the volunteers who will be central in delivering support to the patients suffering from this illness.
Having created an action group, training will play a significant role in developing an interactive approach that will foster the coherence of the program aimed and solving this problem.
