Advantages of Strategic Intent Thinking
It is with no doubt that the world of business is constantly changing and so businesses ought to keep up with the pace as to remain competitive and effective in their operations. It is from this quest that diverse business strategies had to emerge to serve as avenues and paths of success in business. Of importance is the Conventional Strategic Planning which seeks to provide solutions as what the business should do, its direction and identifying ways to reach the set goals. Kennedy (2010), says that Traditional Strategic Planning tends to achieve these objectives fundamentally by relying heavily on data, its analysis and operations research criterion such scenario planning and SWOT analyses. Finally, conventional strategic planning leads into a strategic plan showing goals hierarchically arranged in a cascaded manner throughout the organization, all linked to a central plan (Kennedy, 2010).
On the other hand, Strategic Intent Thinking puts much focus on business strategies of higher level by finding and continuously coming up with new opportunities to cultivate value as a means of achieving set vision. Strategic intent thinking helps visualize the daily life of the customer, describes the discontinuities that may exist and lays down the possible anticipated changes which may happen in future (Kluyver, 2012). Therefore, this does describe the future needs of the customer and necessary success factors to aid in meeting this needs.
