How did you feel about the Lees’ refusal to give Lia her medicine?

I become even angrier the more I read this book because I understand what it feels like to lose control over your body and mind, but you do not understand why. I also realized how it feels like to start taking medicine that you never did before. It is a challenging adjustment characterized by many errors and trials because people respond differently to different anti-epilepsy drugs. I am sure that the Lees were overwhelmed when their prescriptions were prescribed for Lia. Nonetheless, Lia’s family sought out care to help their child from American doctors. The Lees understood that there were cultural differences and language barriers. I sympathize with Lia because the barriers made it difficult for doctors to know why she continued to have seizures.
