For most of the scholars industrialization is going to revolutionize the way the world economies operate and the citizens are going to experience more refined products and services; at least that is what most of the media platforms report on daily basis, citing the millions of employment opportunities. However, that is just half the story; for muckrakers the narrative is all twisted in an infectious mess of unsanitary conditions that most of us have to work with (Historylearningsite.co.uk). As an immigrant, it is still hard to find fulfilling careers and the ones that are available have some stiff working conditions and the sanitation as well as safety are always an issue. What is worse is that, the living conditions in most of the cities that are industrializing are even worse.
People working in these areas are constantly battling life threatening diseases for the merger pays that they get at the end of the week, hoping and waiting as promised in the news that it will only get better. The end however, is nowhere in sight and workers having to fetch for their daily bread. This is the only most of us can survive in the city.
Immigrants coming from overseas are introduced to the horrors of industrialization right from the ships. Most of the ships are germ infested and highly unsanitary, it is ironically fortunate that one made through the voyage. The quarters were cramped up and ravaged with all manner contagious diseases. Most of the people on the ship, suffer from measles, diphtheria, scarlet fever, tuberculosis, typhoid fever, small pox, cholera and sea sickness (Historylearningsite.co.uk). What worse is that, no one seems to what are the causes let alone what the cures are.
