Melting Of The Polar Caps Is As A Result Of Global Warming

Essay Instructions:

Imagine (again) that you are trying to change the mind of a close relative (father, mother, sister, brother, etc.) who does believe that global warming is real. You have the main evidence of the melting polar ice caps, but you need to “sell” it to your relative. How? By using one or more of the various types of evidence: Examples (Real, Invented, and Analogy), Testimony, and Statistics/Data.
This exercise asks you to practice finding these three types of evidence.
Provide an example for each of the types of evidence (Examples, Testimony, and Statistics/Data); each example should clearly support your attempt to convince your relative about how the melting polar ice caps “proves” global warming. (Note, if you prefer to complete this exercise by arguing against global warming, you may do so.)

Melting Polar Cap
Melting of the polar caps is as a result of global warming.
Real example: the levels of oceans have risen, and the water has become less saline. This is evidence that the oceans are getting additional fresh water from the melting ice caps. As well, the sizes of the ice caps are reducing.
Invented example: The rates of increased productions of chlorofluorocarbons by human activities have increased the rate at which the ozone layer is depleting. As a result, this has led to high global temperatures which will, in turn, melt the polar ice caps.
Analogy example: In the past years, the levels of the ocean water but they have gradually increased. Given the fact that the world is experiencing lower rainfall as compared to the past, the rising ocean levels can only be attributed to the melting ice caps. Global warming has led to an increase in global temperatures hence the melting of the ice caps.
Testimony: Several meteorological research institutions have released the news that the Arctic Ocean is becoming more ice-free during the summer over the years. Therefore, this is an indication that the ice caps are slowly melting. The stretch of land in the Arctic that is covered by snow during the summer has increased by a large number of sq...
