Farrell (2011) evaluated the prevalence of workplace aggression facing nurses and midwives including bullying by colleagues, violence by patients and families. The study participants were nurse and midwives in Victoria, Australia. The author rightly pointed out that caution should be exercised when generalizing the study since the research design was qualitative descriptive, and was based on personal perspectives about occupational violence and bullying based on the factors that had already been determined. The findings indicated that staff members wanted better training to address workplace aggression and are consistent with other studies.
