Pepsi
Pepsi is an international corporation founded on 1965 through the merger of Pepsi-Cola and Frito Lay companies. The company specifically deals with the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of foods, beverages among other related products in different countries. It has its headquarters based in New York, USA. It is currently managed by  HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indra_Nooyi" \o "Indra Nooyi" Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi, who has been the chief executive officer since the year 2006. Pepsi is currently rated as the second largest food and beverage distributors in the world, based on the net revenues collected which as per the 2012 was $ 43.3 billion (Carroll & Buchholtz 100-110). The organization has attained success in terms of growth and profits for the past years, however, management issues have hindered its development. This paper critically examines the company management issues from a broad point of view.
There are several management challenges that the current economy creates for Pepsi Company. Top on the list is dealing with the large number of employees each of whom expects salary paychecks on a monthly basis. When the company is not making any profits as expected, its management would have to reduce the total number of employees to a manageable and productive number. This strategy helps in further reducing the company’s overall wage bill and by extension limits the possibilities of the company making losses. An increased change has been observed in the customer preference with most preferring some products as compared to others manufactured and distributed by Pepsi (Kapferer 220). This drive is being propelled by the availability of ubiquitous choices in the market that the competing companies are introducing in the market.
The management has to carefully devise a proper balance that would ensure that all of their products including the older ones still maintain their high demand if not increasing. This balance must also ensure that customer preferences are always met amicably at and at the right time. Thirdly, there has been increased competition from other companies as Coca Cola, which may affect the financial performance of the company. The Pepsi management must come up with new strategies in marketing and distribution remains competitive in the market. The strategies must be all inclusive of the investors, shareholders, and the customer views just to ensure better performance of the company not only in terms of the revenues collected but also in ensuring complete harmony among these three in the running of the company agendas. This cooperation if properly implemented is bound to give positive results for favorable competition with other multinational companies (Lewis et al 34-36).
