Final Paper Proposal and Outline
There are two parts to this assignment—a proposal and an outline. See the instructions below for details on what those parts should include:
Proposal
The proposal should be on a separate page from the outline, and it should consist of one or two paragraphs that describe the society selected for your paper. This society must be a nation other than the U.S. that has large ethnic groups within it. In the proposal, you must explain why you believe this is an appropriate society for your Final Paper.
Outline
Using the sample below as a guide, provide an outline for your Final Paper. The outline should be in basic APA outline format. Select a particular country and analyze the ethnic stratification within that society. For this paper, you must focus on ethnic stratification and conflict, including evidence of prejudice and discrimination. In addition to a description of the selected society and its ethnic groups, your paper should include an analysis of similarities and differences the society’s ethnic stratification system as compared to the United States. You may select one of the countries on the CIA World Factbook website for comparison to the United States in terms of the ethnic stratification system.

The Kenyan society
Chapter 1: Introduction
Kenya is one of the many countries listed of the CIA world fact book. The ethic structure of the country comprises of diverse societies and different people. The population of Kenya comprises of several ethnic groups majorly of the Bantu, nilotes, cushiest, Semites and some small percentage of the international community ( Kijana, 2012).
Chapter 2: Literature review
The indigenous Kenyan culture is enriched by the unique background and diversity of its people. Most of these ethnic societies arrive in Kenya in the 15th century from other parties of Africa. The history of the country suggests that there are no indigenous inhabitants. Kenya is no man’s land. Almost all the 42 tribes are immigrant but there is a 1% portion of a group marginalized communities who live in isolated parts of the country like the Mau forest. The official language of the Kenya people is English because they were colonized by th3e Britain. Swahili is their national language; the language is also international because it is spoken in the entire east African community ( Mutua et al, 2013).
2.1 Ethnic groups in Kenya
The kikuyu of central Kenya form the largest majority with 22%, luhya community with 14%, luos come third with 13%, kalenjins and kamba contribute 12% each while the kisii’s and meru’s come 5th with 6% each. Other Africans and non-Africans (Asians, Arabs and Europeans) contribute 15% and 1% respectively (Kijana, 2012).
2.2 Ethnic stratification in Kenya
Social stratification is a necessary evil; stratification inevitable in any society. All men are not equal. Kenya is not an exception; the Kenyan society is categorized/ranked in social and economic stratas. The categorization is fuels by power (social and/or political power), income, social status and wealth. People from different ethnic groups in Kenya relate to their social positions and their geographical region. The ethnic stratification has lead to superior and minor complexes in the country where some communities fell that they are more superior to other. The kikuyu community or instance has been in power (producing the popular president) almost 30years. They have produced three of the four presidents since independence. The three presidents have discriminately direct resource to their central backyard reliving the rest of the country destitute. With the enormous resource and power on at their disposal, the community fells so superior. Member from this community have a vague notion that “Kenya would not exist without them”. They have dominated all government offices and perpetuated very many social injustices against other tribes (Wa Gthnji, 2015).
The ethnic stratification in Kenya is also a variable of wealth. There is a common ideology in the Kenyan media that supposes that there are only two tribes in Kenya; the rich and the poor. Common knowledge and data-driven statistics have it the kikuyu community is the riches community in Kenya.
